Conservative MP, Lynne Yelich, parliamentary secretary for Human Resources and Social Development, is currently seeking personal stories about how Canada’s current policies help or hinder the ability of parents to provide care for their children. The purpose of the inquiry is to find fair and equitable tax policy for all care styles.
The Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada (CCAAC), which is currently celebrating its 25 year of working towards a just and adequate child care system in Canada, have stated that while tax policy is one key component of a well rounded family policy for Canadians, it is not a substitute for a high quality, affordable, accessible child care system.
CCAAC is asking supporters to write to Lynne Yelich to let her know that a child care system is needed, and not only tax policy.
To tell why you need a child care system in Canada, write to Lynne Yelich at 715 Confederation Building, House of Commons, Ottawa, Ont., K1A OA6, call 1-613-995-5653 or email Yelich.L@parl.gc.ca. Don’t forget to cc the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada at info@ccaac.ca or 151 Slater St., Suite 714, Ottawa ON, K1P 5H3. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 1, 2007.
