HIV/AIDS
The issue of HIV/AIDS and young women is a very important one which seems to garner little attention. The increasing feminization of the AIDS epidemic and the lack of strategies and mechanisms in place to address women's needs is a major international concern. The number of young women and girls who become infected with HIV/AIDS before the age of 25 is astounding: 3, 720 young women become infected with HIV/AIDS everyday. In order to address the HIV/AIDS crisis, and its differential impact on women, there is a serious need for social, cultural and economic reforms both on international and domestic levels.
