Krishanti Dharmaraj is the co-founder of Women’s Institute for Leadership Development for Human Rights (WILD), an organization advancing human rights in the United States. With her leadership San Francisco became the first city in the U.S. to pass legislation implementing the UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
The U.S. government has not ratified CEDAW.
While Canada was one of the first countries in the world to ratified CEDAW in 1980; we have yet to fully honour our commitments to women’s international and domestic human rights.
