In assessing the MDGs, contributors to this publiction are considering the broader challenges that must be confronted,including the undermining of multilateralism; increased armed conflict; emphasis on National Security at the expense of rights; and the intensification of globalization within the framework of the Washington Consensus. This includes the sharp imbalance in global trade relations. They ask what it means to engender what many women consider to be a flawed development process and they explore the kind of transformations needed in global power relations to achieve real equality.

Millennium +5 NGO Network Listserv

A series of NGO open consultations are taking place in parallel to a number of ECOSOC Commissions and UN fora over the coming months. These consultations are an opportunity for NGOs to come together and present their priority areas for action that they wish governments to act upon at the Millennium +5 Event in September.
